Prajitura cu mere "Marie-Helene" / Marie Helene's Apple Cake

Se intampla destul de des ca pofticiosii mei de acasa sa vrea ceva dulce. La intrebarea mea, logica de altfel, cand ar vrea, raspunsul inevitabil este "Pai nu ai tu ceva deja facut, pe acolo?" Nu, nu am intotdeauna, iar rabdarea nu e punctul forte al familiei mele. 
Asa ca rascolind prin retete si prin ingredientele din casa am prestat rapid o prajitura cu mere, usoara si foarte rapida. De gust nu mai zic nimic ...


Ingrediente:

- 3/4 cana de faina
- 3/4 lingurita praf de copt
- un praf de sare
- 4 mere mari
- 2 oua mari
- 3/4 cana de zahar
- 3 linguri de rom
- vanilie
- 100 g unt, topit si racit 

Preparare

Incalziti cuptorul la foc potrivit. Ungeti o forma rotunda de aprox 24 cm, sau puneti hartie de copt. Amestecati faina, praful de copt şi sarea împreună într-un castron. Curatati merele de coaja si taiati-le cuburi potrivite (nu prea mici) Într-un bol bateti ouăle spuma. Incorporati zahărul şi amestecati pana se omogenizeaza. Adaugati romul si vanilia, apoi jumatate din amestecul de faina. Atunci când este încorporat adaugati jumatate din untul topit, urmat de amestecul de faina ramas si unt. Adaugati si bucatile de mere amestecand cu o spatula sau lingura.  


Turnati aluatul in tava pregatita, niveland sa fie cat mai neteda suprafata. Coaceti 40-50 de minute, pana cand devine aurie si trece testul cu scobitoarea. Scoateti din tava când prăjitura este complet răcitaPudrati cu zahar daca doriti.

No, I don't always have something sweet in the oven, and patience is not something that they have. So I picked through recipes and the ingredients in the pantry and provided them a quick apple cake.

Ingredients:

- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 4 large apples 
- 2 large eggs
-n 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons dark rum
- vanilla
- 100 g butter, melted and cooled

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and center a rack in the oven. Butter an 8 inch springform pan. Set aside.
Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a small bowl. Peel the apples, cut them in half, and remove the cores. Cut the apples into 1 to 2 inch chunks. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk until foamy. Pour in the sugar and whisk until smooth. Whisk in the rum and vanilla. Whisk in half of the flour mixture, when it's incorporated, add half of the melted butter, followed by the remaining flour mixture and butter. Mix in between additions so you have a smooth, thick batter. Fold in the apples with a spatula. Pour batter into prepared pan. Spread with spatula so the batter is somewhat even. Slide the pan in the oven and bake 40-50 minutes, or until the top of the cake is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool the cake completely. Run a knife around the edges of the cake and remove from the pan.  Dust with confectioner's sugar if desired.

Scones cu capsuni / Strawberry scones

Dupa pozele din Anglia, m-am gandit ca o portie de scones (very british) ar fi binevenite. Asa ca astazi avem niste scones mici si dragalase de sezon, cu capsuni proaspete si aromate, tocmai bune pentru un " five o' clock tea".



Ingrediente

- 250 g sana/lapte batut
- 80 g zahar 
- 50 g unt 
- 400 g faina 
- 1 pachet praf de copt
- 100 g capsuni taiate bucatele
- zahar  pudra pt deasupra

Preparare

Intr-un castron amestecati laptele cu zaharul. Separat, in alt vas, amestecati untul cu faina si praful de copt. Amestecul trebuie sa arate ca niste firimituri. Adaugati apoi laptele, omogenizand compozitia. Aveti grija sa nu amestecati prea mult, doar cat amestecul sa fie omogen.La sfarsit adaugati bucatelele de capsuni, incorporandu-le cu grija sa nu le zdrobiti.
Incalziti cuptorul la 180 grade. Intindeti aluatul cu mainile intr-o foaie cu grosimea de aprox 2 cm si decupati forme pe care le asezati apoi in tava. Lasati-le sa se odihneasca 10 minute, apoi coaceti-le timp de 20 minute, pana incep sa devina aurii. Scoateti si pudrati cu zahar. Savurati-le caldute alaturi de o ceasca de ceai sau cafea, dupa preferinta.

After showing you the pictures of England, I thought that some scones (very British) would be nice. So, today we have some cute seasonal scones with fresh strawberries, just in time for a "five o 'clock tea".

Ingredients
- 250 ml buttermilk
- 80 g sugar 
- 50 g butter
- 400 g all purpose flour
- 1 package baking powder
- 100 g strawberries cut in small pieces
-confectioner sugar for dusting

Preparation

In a bowl mix the buttermilk with sugar. Separately, in another bowl, mix the butter, flour and baking powder. The mixture should look like bread crumbs. Then add  the buttermilk and the sugar. Be careful not to mix too much. Finally add the strawberry pieces, incorporating them with care not to crush them.
Preheat the oven to 180 C. Spread the dough with your hands into a sheet about 2 cm thick and cut it with a cookie cutter in which shapes you prefer, then place them on  a baking sheet. Let them rest  for10 minutes, then bake them for about 20 minutes, until they start to become golden. Remove and dust with confectioner sugar.  Enjoy them warm with a cup of tea, or coffee if you prefer.

London my love ...

M-am gandit sa impartasesc cu voi pozele si impresiile mele din minivacanta mea in Anglia. Subita si neasteptata si in fuga (la propriu) - asa am vazut eu Londra. Un oras imens si plin de istorie, multicultural ... in care am vazut Buckingam Palace, Westminster Abbey, London Tower, Tower Bridge, London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben si Palatul Parlamentului, British Museum si fascinantul muzeu Madame Tussaud's. Sper sa ma reintorc, dar asta dupa ce vad Parisul!!!

Fundite cu gem de visine/ Bowtie cookies with cherry jam

 Arata ca niste cornulete, dar sunt mai degraba fursecuri. Au branza de vaci si sunt umplute cu gem de visine asa ca au disparut cat ai zice "cookies"!


Ingrediente

- 200 g branza de vaci 
- 200 g unt moale
- 325 g faina 
- 2 linguri zahar 
- un praf de sare, vanilie 
- gem pentru umplut
- zahar pudra 

Preparare

     Scoateti branza de vaci si untul din frigider si lasati-le sa ajunga la temperatura camerei. Intr-un castron, bateti cu mixerul la viteza medie timp de 2 minute untul, branza de vaci, zaharul, sarea si vanilia. Adaugati apoi faina, continuand sa framantati aluatul cu mana sau cu mixerul insa la viteza mica. Omogenizati si formati o minge si lasati-o sa se odihneasca.

      Incalziti cuptorul la 175 grade si pregatiti o tava cu hartie de copt. Intindeti aluatul, formand un patrat cu grosimea de aprox 0.5 cm. Taiati in patrate de aprox 6*6 cm, in mijlocul carora puneti cate un mot de gem, de preferat mai gros. Indiferent ce gem folositi, incercati sa nu puneti prea mult deoarece va curge la copt.
      Lipiti colturile opuse ale patratelor, formand o fundita. Strangeti marginile bine sa nu se desfaca la copt.


Puneti-le in tava si coaceti-le timp de 10-12 minute pana devin aurii. Scoateti si pudrati cu zahar.

 The dough has cream cheese in it and it's filled with cherry jam. You wouldn’t believe how gorgeous that combination is.

Ingredients

- 200 g cream cheese
- 200 g butter softened 
- 325 g all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- pinch of salt, vanilla 
-  cherry jam for filling
- sifted confectioner's sugar for dusting

Preparation

       In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat together the cream cheese, butter, sugar, vanilla and salt on medium speed until light, about 2 minutes. Then on low speed, gradually beat in the flour just until mixed. Using your hands, pat the crumbly mixture together to form a dough ball.
    Preheat the oven to 175 °C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Now,on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a square about 0.5 cm thick.Cut the dough into even 6 x 6 cm squares. Place 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of each square. Use a really thick jam. If there’s too much jam, it has a
tendency to leak while baking.
      Then, pull 2 opposite corners of the square into the middle, and
pinch the edges together to seal. Pinch the edges well, don’t give them a chance to open back into the square shape while baking.
      Place the cookies on the prepared cookie sheet and bake them for about 12 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool on the cookie sheet for 1 to 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Dust the tops with sifted confectioner’s sugar while still warm, then let cool
completely.

Limonada de trandafiri / Rose petals lemonade

Pai, dupa ce v-am aratat trandafirii, sa va arat si ce limonada delicioasa am facut din ei. Eu ii spun limonada insa poate sa fie la fel de bine suc. Am plecat de la ideea de a face sirop de trandafiri si pe parcurs m-am schimbat, datorita cantitatii mari de zahar ce imi trebuia. Se mai intampla si la case mai mari. Insa rezultatul m-a surprins chiar si pe mine. Asa parfum si culoare frumoasa, si atat de simplu de facut. Gata cu vorba, sa trecem la fapte.


Pentru a face limonada aveti nevoie de petale de trandafiri, de preferat sa fie si rosii ca sa va iasa culoarea frumoasa. Si neaparat parfumati. Eu nu am numarat cate flori am cules, insa era cam jumatate de sacosa. Dupa ce le-am curatat aveam cam doua castroane mari pline cu petale.


Am spalat petalele, apoi le-am frecat bine cu doua cani zahar. Doamne, ce frumos mirosea la mine in bucatarie, de imi venea sa le mananc. Apoi am pus petalele cu zaharul intr-un borcan de 4 litri, am adaugat zeama de la 2 lamai si am umplut borcanul cu apa. Apoi i-am pus capacul si l-am bagat la frigider. Timp de 4 zile am asteptat, uitandu-ma cum se coloreaza frumos, si amestecand o data pe zi. 
Dupa cele 4 zile de chin si asteptare, l-am scos, am strecurat petalele, le-am stors bine intr-un tifon si l-am pus in sticle la rece. 
Este un adevarat deliciu racoritor si parfumat. Il puteti servi cu gheata, lamaie, cateva frunze de menta proaspata, sau simplu.

Such a beautiful fragrance and color, and so simple to make. Enough talking, let's get down to the recipe.

 In order to make the lemonade you're going to  need rose petals,  preferably red ones, so you'll have a nice color and perfume. I have not counted how many flowers I picked, but it was about half a bag. It resulted in about two large bowls filled with rose petals. I washed them, then I added 2 cups of sugar, and mixed and rubbed the petals with it. I added the juice of 2 lemons and about 4 liters of water. I put it in the refrigerator and for four days I waited, stirring once a day with a spatula. After the four days, you squeeze the petals out and you can put it in  bottles. It keeps well in the refrigerator for few days. You can serve it with ice cubes, few slices of lemon, or some fresh mint leaves. It's refreshing and delicious.

Pulpe de pui crocante

Nu pot sa va spun decat ca au fost delicioase.
 Reteta nu imi apartine, am preluat-o de la Maniacul in ale bucatariei, pe care sigur il stiti cu totii. Daca nu, vi-l recomand sa-l cititi cu draga inima, face minuni in bucatarie.




Ingrediente

- 8 pulpe superioare de pui
- 150 g iaurt
- cateva linguri faina
- sare, piper


Preparare

Spalati si condimentati pulpele de pui, eu le-am curatat si de piele. Daca doriti puteti sa folositi direct dezosate. Asezati-le intr-un vas si acoperiti-le cu iaurt pe toate partile. Dati la frigider cateva ore sau peste noapte (eu asa le-am lasat). Cand a trecut timpul, scoateti-le, dati-le prin faina si prajiti-le in ulei cateva minute pe fiecare parte, pana se rumenesc. Scoateti-le si dati-le la cuptor, apoi, cam 30 minute pana se patrund. Serviti-le alaturi de ce garnitura sau salata doriti.
